RED OAK — Largely due to an intense lobbying effort by local residents, ShopKo officials have changed their mind about closing the local Pamida store.

According to an announcement Wednesday, the existing Pamida store on South Broadway in Red Oak will be converted to a ShopKo this fall.

ShopKo announced in March that of the 193 Pamida stores they purchased, Red Oak’s would be one of six that would be closed due to lagging store sales.
