MONTGOMERY COUNTY —     Before heading down the banks of the Nishnabotna River Sunday afternoon, Michael Morris wanted to make one thing clear to his two friends, Nick and Aaron O’Neill.

“When we started walking down there, I said ‘if we find any treasure, we split it three ways,’ because these guys are always finding stuff ... and I wanted a piece of it.”
This time though,  it was Morris who found something. Something very big and very old: a 54.5-inch mammoth bone.
