RED OAK — A Montgomery County tradition that dates back four decades returns Saturday as Jack Baird flips the switch on his annual Christmas light display.
What started as a simple display about 35 years ago, the lights now cover more than a quarter-mile, and the scene includes decorated farm equipment, wooden cutouts, nativity scenes, and a 70-foot lighted tower.
Baird said he has two new displays this year, but wouldn’t go into detail.
“I want people to come out and see them for themselves,” he said.
The display is located north of Red Oak. To get there from Red Oak, drive north on Highway 48 to H-12, turn left, drive about three miles west, turn left onto E. Ave.
The display is open from Dec. 10-Jan. 1 from dark until 11 p.m. There is no charge to view the display, but donations are accepted.
