GRISWOLD — The Griswold boys and girls basketball teams each picked up all-conference honors in the Western Iowa Conference released last week.
Jordyn Sindt for the girls and Devin Bates for the boys were both named first-team all-conference by the WIC.
Joining Bates in first-team for boys all-conference were Ricky Williams and Brady Ryun of Riverside, Austin Konsor of Underwood, Alec Sorensen of Treynor and Britton Barrier of Tri-Center.
The girls first-team all-conference includes Susie Bylund of Audubon, Tracy Purdy and Kayli Christensen of Treynor, Danikah Grobe of A-H-S-T and Kaylee Grote of Tri-Center.
Bates, a senior guard, finished third in the WIC in scoring averaging 17.2 points per game. Bates was also fourth in the conference in assists with 76.
Sindt, also a senior, led the conference in assists (81) and steals (118). Sindt was also Griswold’s leading scorer as she averaged 10.3 points per game, seventh most in the WIC.
Tyrel Peters and Marquel Brunk were both honorable mentions for the all-conference team.
Peters was second on the team in scoring and assists and led the team in steals. Brunk was second on the team in steals and scoring.
Griswold was well represented on the WIC all-academic team, also released last week.
Sindt, as well as Serena Robinette were selected for the girls basketball team. Bates and Collin Fast were chosen for boys basketball. In wrestling, Josh Metheny, Xavier Olivo, Tanner Potter, Zach Vance and Mason Anstey were chosen for the team.
The Griswold boys and girls basketball teams finished the 2012-13 season each with a 10-13 record.
The Griswold wrestling team was represented at the state tournament this season by Vance and Potter.
