Downtown Red Oak has been named a historic district from the U.S. Department of the Interior.
Jim Hoskinson, the chairman of the Red Oak Historical Preservation Commission, said the designation will serve as a benefit to buildings that contribute to the historical designation.
“Those buildings have the benefit of being able to get tax credits for preservation and restoration as long as it’s within the Department of the Interior guidelines,” Hoskinson said.
