Griswold girls golf places third in conference

Mateya Peters placed sixth and the Griswold Tigers placed third as a team in the Western Iowa Conference golf tournament last Wednesday.
Team scoring: 1-AHSTW 419, 2-Audubon 483, 3-Griswold 432, 4-IKM-Manning 469, 5-Logan-Magnolia 539, 6-Missouri Valley 497, 7-Riverside 569, 8-Treynor 359, 9-Tri-Center 459, 10-Underwood 468.
Mateya Peters led the team, shooting a 97 to earn a sixth-place medal.
Other counting scores were: Shelby Keiser with a 106, Karley Keiser with a 114, and Bry Carlisle with a 115.
Reaghan Oakleaf shot a 119.
S. Keiser finished in 14th, K. Keiser 21st, Carlisle 22nd, and  Oakleaf 27th.
Team scoring: 1-Underwood 336, 2-AHSTW 344, 3-Treynor 349, 4-Logan-Magnolia 352, 5-Audubon 354, 6-IKM-Manning 366, 7-Griswold 383, 8-Tri-Center 387, 9-Missouri Valley 413, 10-Riverside 417.
The Tigers were led by Marty Pelzer, who shot a 91 and earned 19th place individually.
Other counting scores were: Logan Pelzer with a 93, Devin Witt with a 98, and Brock Wallace with a 101.
Corey Steinbeck shot a 104 in the tournament.
Last Tuesday, the Tigers took on Riverside.
The girls team was lead by Peters, who shot a 45, which claimed medalist honors.
Karley Keiser shot a 56, which claimed runner-up medalist honors.
Other counting scores for Griswold were: Kylee Diekenson, who shot a 57, and a tie between Reaghan Oakleaf and Shelby Keiser, each shooting a 59.
Bry Carlisle shot a 61.
No team score for the Riverside girls.
The Tiger boys were defeated 200-209.
Marty Pelzer led the boys with a 49, claiming runner-up medalist honors.
Other counting scores were: Logan Pelzer with a 51, Brock Wallace with a 54, and Corey Steinbeck with a 55.
Devin Witt shot a 64.
