The Iowa Department of Natural Resources issues a weekly fishing report on Thursdays in an effort to provide the latest information heading into the weekend.
The weekly fishing report is compiled from information gathered from local bait shops, angler creel surveys, and county and state parks staff.

SOUTHWEST
Viking Lake
The lake is mostly ice free. A few boat anglers are having good success vertically jigging for largemouth bass around deep rock piles. A high percentage of fish caught are in the 15 to 18-inch range. Largemouth Bass - Good: Vertical jig deep rock structure for fish 15 to 18 inches.
Lake Manawa
The lake is 75 percent open. A few catfish are being caught around the beach. Channel Catfish - Fair: Catfish can be caught around the beach using dead minnows.
Warm temperatures have continued. Most lakes and ponds have little or no ice. Ice fishing is not safe. For more information on ice conditions and fishing contact the Southwest District Office in Lewis at 712-769-2587.
