Jessie Back, 93

Jessie Martha Gemmell Back, 93, of Terre Haute, Ind., passed away Friday, Jan. 27, at Cobblestone Crossing.

She was born to Robert and Ellen Gemmell March 31, 1918, in Carroll, Neb.

Jessie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul Jacob Back; five brothers, Donald, John Ritchie, Ralph Lewis, Fred Gordon and Allan Andrew; and two sisters, Mary Elsie Whitney and Jeanne Margaret Smith.

She is survived by her children, Stephen Paul Back, of Hillsdale, Okla., and Judith Gail Dickerson Beatty, of Terre Haute; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter; and two sisters, Elizabeth Ellen Norris and Wilma Alice Kidd, of San Angelo, Texas.

Memorial services took place Wednesday, Feb. 1, at Central Presbyterian Church with Rev. Lant Davis officiating. Her remains will be interred at Elmwood Cemetery in Carroll. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Mattox Wood Funeral Home & Crematory.
