Margaret A. Geer, 77, of Red Oak, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012, at the Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs after a brief illness.
Margaret Ann Geer was born to E.H. and Jessie (Higgins) Wagaman Oct. 13, 1934, in Omaha. She was raised in Villisca, where she graduated from high school in 1952.
Margaret moved to Clarinda, where she worked for the Lisle Corporation.
On Sept. 29, 1957, Margaret married Wayne Geer in Villisca. They farmed for many years in Montgomery County before moving to Red Oak in 1983.
Margaret worked for Montgomery County Memorial Hospital for 25 years, retiring in the late 1990’s.
She was a member of the Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the Red Oak Lions Club, the Neighborhood Study Club and volunteered with Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed gardening, canning vegetables, painting, crafts, sewing, and cross stitch.
Preceding her in death were her parents; daughter, Linda; and sister, Dorothy Wagaman.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne Geer, of Red Oak; children, Doug Geer and Cindi Thiry, of Wichita, Kan., Scott (Sue) Geer, of Stanton, and Lisa (Tom) Conry, of Harlan; grandchildren, Dustin Thiry, of Wichita, Keagan Geer, of Council Bluffs, Sydnee Geer, of Bellevue, Mark Conry, of Davenport, Sarah Conry, of Ames, Greg Conry, of Harlan, and Courtney Conry, of Harlan; sister-in-law, Laura Swift, of Red Oak; brother-in-law, Glenn (Evonne) Geer, of Duluth, Minn.; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services took place Saturday, Feb. 4, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Fred Pilecki officiating. Burial was in the Villisca Cemetery. Visitation with the family was Friday, Feb. 3, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the Red Oak Lions Club. Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
