Stanton residents had a suspicious vehicle scare on Friday.

Reports circulated throughout the school and community of a blue van with three male occupants driving around the community. The occupants were reportedly knocking on the doors and windows of homes around the community.

Due to the unexplained presence of the van, Stanton School officials notified the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office of the van, and Stanton administrators personally escorted students home.

According to Montgomery County Sheriff Joe Sampson, following their investigation, it was determined the occupants of the van were actually salesmen.

“They were door-to-door salesmen who didn’t register in the community. Deputies located the van and the occupants and told them to go register at City Hall,” Sampson said.
