Vikings split week against Essex and Villisca

STANTON — The Stanton Vikings defeated the Essex Trojans Friday night in Corner Conference boys’ basketball action, 45-40, at Stanton High School.

Stanton was down 20-17 at halftime, but was able to score 28 points during the second half to complete the regular season sweep of the Trojans.

Greg Focht and Austin Becthold both scored double-digit points for the Vikings. Becthold scored 14 points and was a rebound shy of getting a double-double for the game. Focht scored 13 points on 6-for-7 shooting and had seven rebounds.
