STANTON — Dozens of community members and students from Stanton and Red Oak schools gathered at Viking Lake Thursday morning to see one of Iowa’s own return home after more than 120 years.

Four trumpeter swans were released at the lake in an Iowa Department of Natural Resources’ effort to repopulate the state with North America’s largest waterfowl.
