Montgomery County Recreational Trails develop group formed to seek support

-A A +A

Early this year, a group of trail enthusiasts formed a non-profit called Montgomery County Recreational Trails, Inc. (MCRT), led by Montgomery County resident, Steve Turman. For a year and a half volunteers met regularly to determine how to develop recreational trails in Montgomery County and connect them with existing and proposed trails in the county’s towns, as well as trails existing and planned in adjacent counties.

Such a trail network is a desired amenity by many people now living in the county and region, as well as people seeking to relocate to southwest Iowa.  MCRT’s first priority is a route from Red Oak to Stanton, extending to Viking Lake State Park.

The trails organization is now seeking funds from various sources and contacting land owners along desired routes to determine their interest in partnering in trail development.  If you are interested in helping fulfill this vision, please contact Steve Turman at 214-505-5394 or by email at sturman@visibleedge.com
