USTA continues to recognize YMCA’s work

The United States Tennis Association, the Missouri Valley Tennis Association (states of Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Greater St. Louis & Greater Kansas City area) and the Iowa Tennis Association recently released and recognized  the dedicated work of the Red Oak community to promote the game of tennis, through volunteerism, leadership, development, and promotion for the sport for youth to adults of all ages and playing abilities with the United States Tennis Association (USTA).

The Montgomery County Family YMCA and with advisory support of the Red Oak Tennis Association coordinate several tennis programs throughout the year. 

The Montgomery County Family YMCA offers both junior and adult USTA sanctioned tennis tournaments in February and March annually with match play taking place in the Montgomery County Family YMCA four indoor tennis court center in Red Oak. 

This past winter, the Montgomery County Family YMCA Carder Indoor Tennis Center played host to several NCAA Division II and NAIA tennis matches with college teams from Missouri, Iowa and Kentucky participating. 

The Montgomery County Family YMCA’s Carder Indoor Tennis Center just offered a very successful USTA Junior’s Tennis Tournament on the weekend of March 7-8. More than 33 junior players from Midwest participated in this event. States representative: Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri and Illinois. 

The Montgomery County Family YMCA will also being hosting this upcoming summer Adult and Junior Red Oak Adult Tennis Tournaments this summer at the Red Oak Legion tennis courts. 

This event will offer tennis tournament play for all levels of tennis playing abilities for singles, doubles, and mixed doubles play for adults.  The Junior play is for 10-18 years of  age. In February 2016 and early March 2016 the YMCA will also play host to two USTA events: an adult tournament in mid February and a junior tournament in March.

The YMCA will once again offer tennis leagues for men and women of all abilities this summer. 

Watch for registrations during the month of May at the YMCA and at Mark Jackson’s Downtown Hardware Hank Store located on the north side of Fountain Square Park. Play will begin in June and run into early August.

The YMCA will be offering summer junior tennis programs for elementary to high school students as well. 

There will be tennis lessons, team tennis on Friday’s in Omaha, interclub play, and a closed junior tennis tournament in July. 

Registrations will be out in May and the programs will start in June 2015. Contact the YMCA to learn more about the summer programs.

The Montgomery County Family YMCA also offers fall, winter, spring indoor and outdoor adult singles and doubles play for men and women, as well as group lessons for the fall, winter, spring for adults and juniors.

The YMCA offers an expanded tennis membership for the person (s) or families that truly like to play tennis and / or racquetball. The Carder Tennis Center has one racquetball / wallyball / squash court and a tennis viewing area to watch all the tennis play from above court level.  

The YMCA also offers free family tennis from November-April for members only on Sundays from 4–6 p.m. on two reserved tennis courts.
