Havrum, Becthold, Cerven named to state football team

DES MOINES—The honors keep coming for the Stanton High School football team, as several players received all-state honors from the Iowa Newspaper Association (INA), last Tuesday.
Tyler Havrum received the highest honor as he was named to the all-state eight-man’s second team on defense. Andrew Cerven and Austin Becthold earned third team honors from the INA. Cerven received the honors for offense, playing on the line and Becthold received them on defense at the linebacker position.
The Vikings weren’t the only Corner Conference athletes to receive the honor, as players from Fremont-Mills and East Mills earned the honor as well. Nate Meier of Fremont-Mills earned first team offense honors. Luke Schafer is the only player from East Mills to receive all-state honors as he was named to second team defense.
The Vikings finished the 2010 season with an 8-3 record. They were knocked out of the second round of the eight-man playoffs by Glidden-Ralston, earlier this month.
