The Stanton Viqueens remain undefeated after posting two Corner Conference wins last week.
Stanton defeated Essex 70-19 on Tuesday, Dec. 13, on the road.
The Viqueens took little time building a commanding lead, 23-6 by the end of the first quarter, and never looked back.
“Tonight, some of our best offense was generated by the intense play of our defense,” Stanton head girls basketball coach Dave Snyder said.

The Vikings defeated the Trojans 71-46.

Fremont-Mills
Stanton traveled to Tabor on Friday, Dec. 16, and swept the Knights beginning with a 41-29 win for the Viqueens in a physical battle.
Stanton’s A. Burke was injured in the first minute of the game, but her younger sister, R. Burke stepped in and put the first of all points on the board with a trey. She finished the night leading the Queens in points, finishing with a dozen.

The Vikings took a 40-25 lead into the halftime, but the Knights battled to close the gap in the final minutes of the game. Stanton was able to hold on and defeat the rival 79-70.
“It was a good conference, team win,” Stanton co-head boys basketball coach Donnie Weis said. “I am proud of the guys and how hard they play day in and day out.”

Underwood
The Class 1A, number seven ranked Viqueens fell to Underwood 52-46 on Saturday at the MAC. Underwood, (Class 2A ranked 9) led by one point at the end of the first quarter and took a 26-25 lead into the break. In the third quarter, Stanton fell into a shooting slump, while Underwood outscored the Queens 19-7. Stanton rallied back in the final eight minutes, outscoring Underwood 14-7, but it wasn’t enough for the win.
