Timberwolves split home triangular

The Southwest Valley volleyball team hosted Southeast Warren and Lenox in its first Pride of Iowa Conference triangular of the season last Tuesday.
The Timberwolves fell 25-20, 25-22 to Southeast Warren in the opener before picking up a 25-15, 25-15 win over Lenox in the nightcap.
Against the Warhawks, Ray Helvie notched nine kills and Mackenzie Fast six.
“We had solid, aggressive serving,” said Southwest Valley coach Lisa Sparks. “They did as well keeping us just out of system to take both sets in close losses.”
Ada Lund and 12 digs and two aces and Elin Hogan had 12 assists to go with 11 digs.
The Timberwolves bounced back to sweep the Tigers in the final match.
“I was very proud with how strong the girls played,” Sparks said. “Serving again was aggressive and our offense looked strong.”
Helvie once again led the way in kills with eight while Fast knocked down seven kills to go with five digs.     
Elin Hogan paced the offense with 20 set assists.
