  • First-degree kidnapping charged added for McCunn

    First-degree kidnapping charges have been added to first-degree murder charges for Toby McCunn of Red Oak.  The kidnapping charges were filed in court July 3 with the offense date listed as April 15.

    Nationally, during the 2017 July 4th holiday period (the most recent statistics available) 601 people died in motor vehicle crashes, or, an average of 134 per day. During that same time there were four fatalities on Iowa roads. That is certainly nothing to celebrate.

  • 2 K.C. men charged with Chat Mobility thefts
  • Shenandoah man arrested on Fremont County warrant

    Around 10:35 p.m. May 13, deputies with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office arrested 27-year-old Matthew Whitt of Shenandoah on a Fremont County warrant for violation probation.

    Whitt was transported to the Montgomery County Jail and held on $10,000 bond waiting for extradition to Fremont County. During the arrest, deputies also arrested Paige Clark, 23, of Red Oak, on the charge of possession of drug equipment. Clark was transported to the Montgomery County Jail and held on $300 bond. Both arrests took place at 310 Park Ave. in Red Oak.

  • Former Riverton city clerk sentenced for bank fraud

    United States Attorney Marc Krickbaum announced on April 2, 2019, Carol S. Jennings, age 57, of Riverton, was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Stephanie M. Rose for bank fraud. Jennings was sentenced to five years of probation and ordered to pay $77,247.47 in restitution. As part of her sentence, Jennings will serve six months of home confinement.

  • Amy Zacharias appointed district court judge

    Gov. Kim Reynolds today announced her appointment of Amy Zacharias as district court judge in the Fourth Judicial District.  
     
    Zacharias, of Persia, Iowa, received her undergraduate and law degrees from Creighton University. She currently serves as a district associate judge in the Fourth Judicial District.
     
    The Fourth Judicial District includes Audubon, Cass, Fremont, Harrison, Mills, Montgomery, Page, Pottawattamie, and Shelby counties.

  • Page County resident sentenced to more than 5 years in prison on possession charges

    U.S. Attorney Marc Krickbaum announced that Page County resident, 28-year-old Devon Miller, was sentenced in U.S. District Court Wednesday, Feb. 27, to 66 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. Miller was sentenced for possession with intent to distribute controlled substances while in possession of a firearm.
