  • Dean's List

    Alyx J. Flippin, Elliott has earned a spot on the University of Central Missouri dean’s list.

    In order to be included on the dean’s list, students must attain a grade point average of 3.50 to 3.99. 

  • College Graduation

    An area resident was one of 216 students receiving degrees from Cornell College in Mount Vernon on May 14.

    Mary Kort, Red Oak, graduated with a major in geology.

  • College Graduations

    4,859 graduates received degrees at Iowa State University commencement in Ames on May 26.

    Local students earning diplomas included:

    Malvern: Glenn Robinson, Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Veterinary Medicine.

    Red Oak: Daniel Carlson, Bachelor of Science, Construction Engineering.

    Villisca: BreeAnn Fisher, Bachelor of Science, Agricultural Business. 

  • College Graduations

    Approximately 646 individuals participated in May graduation ceremonies at Iowa Western Community College.

    The following area students earned diplomas:

    Corning: Kandice C. Wilkinson, diploma in practical nursing.

    Emerson: Jessica L. Herzberg, associate of applied science degree in advanced placement-associate degree nursing.

    Essex: Samantha A. Racine, associate of arts degree in general studies.

  • College Graduation

    Collin Fast, Elliott, was among 267 graduates to receive bachelor’s degrees at Northwestern College’s commencement ceremonies Saturday, May 13.

    Fast graduated with a major in elementary education from Northwestern College.

    Northwestern College is a Christian college of more than 1,250 students in Orange City.

  • College Graduation

    Bradley Black, Red Oak, graduated from Azusa Pacific University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting for the Stage and Screen on Saturday, May 6, and joined approximately 1,700 graduates at the spring commencement ceremonies.

  • Collegiate Honors

    Central College student Tanner Gilliland of Red Oak has been elected to 2017-2018 Student Senate. This group will represent Central’s student body during the coming academic year.

  • College Graduations

    Wayne State College held commencement for graduate and undergraduate students on Saturday, May 6 in Rice Auditorium.

    • Lily Lam, Clarinda, received her Bachelor of Science degree in Science Education. She was one of 422 students who graduated with their bachelor’s degrees.

    Among the 88 students receiving graduate degrees were:

    • Seth Lembke, Griswold, earned his graduate degree in School Administration PK-12.
