  • Dean’s List/ President’s List

    Southwestern Community College, Creston, recently announced its dean’s and president’s honor lists for the fall semester of 2016 

    Full-time students who obtain a 3.50 or greater grade point average during a semester qualify for the president’s honor list, while full-time students who obtain a 3.00 grade point average or above during a semester qualify for the dean’s honor list.

  • Dean’s List

    Approximately 8,775 Iowa State University students have been recognized for outstanding academic achievement by being named to the fall semester 2016 dean’s list. 

    Students named to the dean’s list must have earned a grade point average of at least 3.50 on a 4.00 scale while carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours of graded course work. 

    Local students earning the honor were: 

    Henderson:  Grant Isaac Keast, sophomore, Pre-Business.

  • College Graduates

     Approximately 300 individuals participated in December graduation ceremonies at Iowa Western Community College.

     The following area students graduated:

    Corning: Jasmine N. Godbolt, associate of arts degree in education: grades K-12. 

    Emerson: Molly N. Bolton, associate of applied science degree in marketing.

  • College Graduations

    Simpson College in Indianola held commencement on Dec. 17, 2016. Jorge Ramos, son of Felix Ramos and Teresa Ramos of Red Oak, graduated with a BA in chemistry.

  • Dean’s List

    Recognition for outstanding academic achievement has been given to Grand View University students for the 2016 fall semester.

    The students are named to the dean’s list for earning a grade point average of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale while carrying at least 12 hours of classes.

    Rochelle Sink of Red Oak earned a place on the dean’s list for the semester.

  • Dean’s List

    Morningside College Provost Dr. William C. Deeds recently announced the students who were named to the dean’s list for the fall semester of the 2016-2017 academic year.

    The dean’s list recognizes students who achieve a 3.67 grade point average or better and complete at least 12 credits of coursework with no grade below a C-.

  • College Graduations

    Aaron J. Hicks of Cedar Falls, son of Sue and Brad Hicks of Red Oak, graduated from the University of Northern Iowa on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016, with a degree in history. He is a 2012 graduate of Hampton-Dumont High School.

    At Iowa State University’s fall commencement ceremonies held Dec. 17, 2016, degrees were presented to 2,148 students, including three from the area.

    • Craig White of Red Oak, Bachelor of Science, Technical Communication.

    • Ethan Lantz of Stanton, Bachelor of Science, Agricultural Business.
