Lydon named Principal of the Year

Red Oak native and graduate Kate Lydon was named the MoASSP Northwest Missouri Middle School Principal of the Year on Friday, April 25. She currently serves as the principal at Maryville Middle School, a position she took over beginning with the 2023-24 school year. Lydon was honored during an all-school assembly in a surprise presentation. Family and friends traveled to be there for the presentation, and students filled the gym with handmade signs to cheer on the principal who works tirelessly for each and every one of them. School administrators noted Lydon’s commitment to building a safe, supportive, and high-achieving environment at Maryville Middle School is reflected every day in the work of the students and staff. This recognition from the Northwest Missouri region is a testament to the exceptional leadership she brings to the school community.
