Regional Volleyball Preview: 3A Region 2 Semifinals

The semifinals are set for Class 3A. Here's a preview of the matches taking place Thursday night.

Red Oak Tigers vs. Adel DeSoto Minburn Tigers @ Creston High School- 7 p.m.

Both teams are coming off 3-0 wins in the quarterfinals. Red Oak defeated Creston, while ADM defeated Winterset.

Red Oak had a big match Monday from both Gabi French and Maddie Holmgren. Both finished the night with double-digit kills. Holmgren in fact had six assists, seven digs and three blocks.

ADM fields a younger team, as they have only two seniors. Allison Gottschalk and Torrie Hook, both sophomores, lead the attack for ADM. Both are in the top two on the team in kills. Hook led the team Monday night in kills with 11.

This will be the first meeting between both teams this season.

Glenwood Rams @ Harlan Cyclones @ Harlan High School

Both schools picked up 3-0 victories over their respective opponents in the quarterfinals. Harlan defeated Denison-Schleswig and Glenwood defeated Atlantic.

Glenwood has lost all three meetings to Harlan this season. Their most recent loss to the Cyclones came Sept. 24 at the Harlan Tournament.

Winner of this match will face the winner from Red Oak/ADM on Wednesday Nov. 2 in Atlantic.
