State Playoff Football Preview: 8-man second round

Here is a preview of the second round 8-man playoff games taking place Monday night.

Stanton Vikings @ Fremont-Mills Knights- 7 p.m. in Tabor

The last time these two teams met, Fremont-Mills won 65-12 on Sept. 30. Stanton is 14-6 lifetime against Fremont-Mills.

Both teams are coming off big first round wins. Stanton defeated Ar-We-Va 60-13 in Westside, while Fremont-Mills defeated Woodbine 62-22.

Stanton will need to focus on stopping running back Nate Meier. Meier had six touchdowns and 174 yards rushing in their last meeting.

Results will not be in Tuesday's print edition because of the early deadline for Sports. There will be an update posted Tuesday morning on the Red Oak Express website.

East Mills Wolverines @ Glidden-Ralston Wildcats

Both schools are coming off big wins from the first round. East Mills defeated Boyer Valley with a strong second half effort. Glidden-Ralston meanwhile handily defeated Sidney.

This will be the first meeting between the two teams. Winner will play the winner of Stanton/Fremont-Mills Friday night.

Other second round games taking place Monday night include Lenox at Murray, Cumbeland Anita Massena at Adair-Casey and Remsen-Union at Armstrong-Ringsted.
