“What The Flag Means To Me” essay winners

Each year, the Iowa Elks Association sponsors an essay contest for sixth graders with the theme being “What the Flag Means To Me.”

Local winners are then submitted to the State Association to determine the State Winner.
In Red Oak, Mary Carlson’s Language class participated and the girls winners were Sierra Petty, 1st; Felicia Taylor, 2nd and Faith Stapleton, 3rd. Boys winners were Tristan Piper, 1st; Connor Johnson, 2nd and Gadge Perez, 3rd. Each received a $10 Chamber Buck.
