INCIDENT REPORTS
- On Oct. 28 the Red Oak Police Department was notified by the Red Oak Parks Department that four park tables had been vandalized in Legion Park. It is believed that the damage occurred between Oct. 27 and 28. Damage is estimated at $450. If you have information about this please contact the Red Oak Police Department at 623-6500.
ACCIDENTS
- On Oct. 24 at 4:05 p.m. officers of the Red Oak Police Department were called to a two-car accident. A 2007 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Elaine Smith, 86, Red Oak, was traveling north on Broadway and coming to a stop. It was struck from behind by Todd Michael Rensch II, 18, Red Oak, driving a 2002 Ford Escort, who was following too close. Cost to Smith’s vehicle was $500, with damage to Rensch’s vehicle amounting to $1,600. Information was collected by the officers and turned over to the owners.
- On Oct. 24 at about 5:30 p.m. a 2003 Jeep Liberty owned by Flying A Cattle Company and driven by Leatha Bennett was stopped at the stop sign on K Avenue north of Highway 34. Because of sun glare she was unable to see the east-bound 2001 Dodge Dakota owned by BilliJo Anderson and operated by Robert Childs. Bennett pulled into the intersection and was struck by Childs, who tried to swerve out of the path of Bennett’s vehicle but was unsuccessful. Bennett struck the driver’s rear door of Childs’ vehicle with her right front bumper. Childs continued into the southeast ditch of the intersection. Damage to Bennett’s vehicle is estimated at $2,700 and Childs’ at $3,500. No injuries were reported. Bennett was cited for a stop sign violation.
- On Oct. 25 at about 1:45 a.m. a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix owned by Stephanie Gay and operated by Donald Gay was eastbound on 200th Street in the 2000 block when the driver swerved to miss deer in the road. Gay lost control and slid through the yard at 2013 200th St., causing an estimated $3,000 damage to the landscaping. There were no injuries reported and the driver was cited for failure to maintain control.
