INCIDENTS

  • On Dec. 5, at about 12:36 p.m., the Montgomery County Sheriff’s office recovered a 2002 Buick LeSabre which had been reported stolen from Moline, Ill. The vehicle was found parked in the 400 block of East 6th Street in Villisca. The theft is still under investigation by the Moline police and the Montgomery County Sheriff’s office.
  • On Dec. 13-14, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m., someone entered a vehicle in the 700 block of East Nuckols Street in Red Oak and removed items valued at more than $3,400, including several mini racing drones, Go Pro camera chargers, batteries, antennas, cables and Fat Shark goggles. Many of these items were unique and homemade. Anyone with information should call the Red Oak police.

ACCIDENTS

  • On Dec. 7, at about 4:35 p.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated a hit-and-run accident in the 1800 block East Forest Avenue. A 2014 Toyota Avalon Hybrid owned by Janice Arthur, Red Oak, was legally parked facing west on the north side of East Forest Avenue from about noon-4 p.m. When Arthur attempted to open her car door, it was catching and she noticed damage to the left front fender and door area. There was also white paint transfer. Estimated damages to the Arthur vehicle are about $2,000.
  • On Dec. 14, at about 7:10 a.m., Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies investigated a two-vehicle accident on U.S. 34. A 2013 Ford Econoline van driven by Patricia Roberts, 60, Afton, was traveling west in the north lanewhen it slid on the icy road in front of the 2001 Honda Civic which was driven by Keith Hardy, 48, Villisca and also traveling west but in the south lane. Hardy’s vehicle struck the driver’s side of Roberts’ van, which slid up against the bridge’s concrete railing and then continued west. Damage to Roberts’ vehicle was estimated at $4,600, while damage to the Hardy vehicle was about $6,500. There were no injuries, and no citations were issued due to the road conditions.
