Accidents

• On Nov. 23 at about 7:15 p.m., Red Oak Police Department officers were called to 708 E. Washington for a hit and run on a parked 1999 Dodge Durango. The victim was Matthew Miller, Stanton. The Durango was side swiped from the rear left bumper of the driver’s door, taking off the mirror. There was a dent in the driver’s door that was from the accident. The estimated damage was $1,500. Later in the day, Richard Lyn McAlpin called to report the accident. He advised that he swerved to miss a dog that ran out in front of him and side-swiped the Durango.
• On Nov. 25 at about 12:19 p.m., Red Oak Police Department officers investigated an accident near N. 6th St. and E. Grimes. Lowell Alan Burnison, Red Oak, was driving his 2000 Chrysler Town and Country northbound on N. 6th St. He looked down to find a car wash token and failed to notice a properly parked 1997 Ford F150 pick-up owned by Brett Alan Rea. Burnison struck the backside of Rea’s truck, causing a property damaging accident. Burnison was issued a citation for failure to have vehicle under control.
• On Nov. 27 at about 7:32 a.m., the Montgomery County Sheriff’s office responded to a single vehicle property damage accident on 150th St., half mile west of U.S. Hwy 48. A gray 2005 Dodge Stratus owned and operated by Jonette S. Otte, 63, Henderson , was eastbound on 150th St. when the driver got the right side tires off the pavement. There is minimal shoulder on this road. The driver attempted to correct the vehicle trying to keep the vehicle out of the ditch, but overcorrected and the vehicle went into the south ditch. The vehicle sustained approximately $5,000 damage. The driver was checked at the scene by Red Oak Fire and Rescue but was not transported. The investigation is complete and no citations were issued.
