ACCIDENTS

• On Jan. 26, at about 4:06 p.m., Montgomery County Sheriff’s deputies investigated a two-vehicle accident on 200th Street. Jared Mattson, 18, Villisca, driving a 1996 Ford Explorer belonging to Edith Mattson, was traveling west on 200th Street west of Highway 71. Mattson lost control due to the icy roadway and slid into the path of a 1994 Buick LeSabre driven by Michele Stevens, 61, Villisca, which was traveling east. The two vehicles met head-on. Stevens was transported to Montgomery County Memorial Hospital and Mattson refused treatment. Damage to Mattson’s vehicle was about $3,000, and estimated damage for Stevens’ vehicle was $2,500. Mattson was cited for failure to maintain control and no insurance.
