  • On May 9, at 11:25 a.m., Red Oak Police Chief Drue Powers investigated the scene of an accident on E. Summit St. During his investigation, it was determined that a 2004 Chevy C1500 pickup, driven by Joshua Porter, 23, Red Oak, was westbound on E. Summit St. with an attached utility trailer. A 1999 Chevy Monte Carlo driven by Kiley Caron, 23, Red Oak, was eastbound on E. Summit St. As the vehicles passed each other, Caron crossed the centerline and struck the trailer pulled by Porter in the fender and wheel area. Caron continued eastbound, then turned south on Boundary, going up over the curb and nearly striking a sign. Caron continued south on Boundary. Officers received a call from a witness that had followed Caron and were able to continue their investigation. The utility trailer attached to Porter’s vehicle sustained about $2,000 damage and Caron’s vehicle had $2,000 damage. Caron’s vehicle sustained further damage upon entering his driveway when he was driving too fast. Caron entered the driveway, drove up on the bank next to the driveway then backed down to the driveway. Caron failed to stop and then struck the corner of the residence with the right front corner of the vehicle, causing $1,000 damage to the house. Caron was given two citations, one for failing to yield half of roadway and another for leaving the scene of an accident. Caron may have additional charges pending the outcome of further chemical testing.
