Incidents
- On May 18, at 1:03 p.m., officers took a burglary report in the 700 block of E. Reed St. James Bourn reported sometime in the past week an unknown person or persons did force a window open and enter the residence. The victim reports a chest set taken and is currently checking the residence to see if other items have been taken. Any one with information is asked to contact the Red Oak Police Department at 712-623-6500 or the Montgomery County Crime Stoppers at 800-432-1001.
Accidents
- On May 10, at 3:34 p.m., a 1995 Chevy 1500 owned by James Bentson of Red Oak and operated by Mackenzee Bentson, 16, of Red Oak, was traveling south on Broadway. A 1993 Chevy 210 owned by James Davis of Essex and operated by Morgia England, 33, of Essex was also traveling south, following the Bentson vehicle. Bentson slowed her vehicle. England stated she looked down and upon looking back up observed Bentson had slowed or stopped. England attempted to brake but struck the Bentson vehicle in the rear, causing a property damage accident. Damage to the Bentson vehicle was estimated at $1,500. Damage to the vehicle driven by England was $2,000. England was issued a citation for following too closely. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and Red Oak Fire and Rescue assisted the Red Oak Police Department at the scene.
- On May 15 deputies of the Montgomery County Sheriff’s office covered a hit-and-run accident located at Hwy 34 and G Ave., west of Red Oak. Keyla McDougall drove the victim vehicle. McDougall was stationary at the northbound stop sign behind a semi-tractor. The tractor and trailer began to back up, making contact with McDougall’s vehicle. The semi then proceeded to go east on Hwy 34. Damage to McDougall’s vehicle is estimated at $1,000. No injuries were reported at the time of the accident.
