INCIDENTS

  • On Aug. 10, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office received a report from the City of Villisca about a theft that occurred some time between Aug. 7-10. Someone removed a black 6x14 utility trailer from a storage garage belonging to the City of Villisca.  The Finish Line trailer, which had both a side and end ramp, was loaded with two yellow Walker mowers, one 25 hp with a 52” deck and the other 20 hp with a 62” deck; a Stihl line trimmer and a Dewalt grinder. Estimated loss in property and damages for trailer and equipment is $28,000. The trailer probably has damage to the fender on the driver’s side and is missing a clearance light.

ACCIDENTS

  • On Aug 12, at 9:01 p.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated an accident at North 4th Street and East Maple Street. Mario Lepe-Garcia, 16, Red Oak, driving a 2000 Chevrolet Monte Carlo owned by Hugo Lepe, was traveling east on East Maple Street and entered the intersection, causing a collision with a 2000 Dodge Dakota pick-up driven by Shane Adams, 23, Red Oak. Lepe-Garcia was cited for failure to obey a stop or yield sign.  
  • On Aug. 14, at 9:23 a.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated an accident in the 1000 block of Corning Street. Jeremiah Foote, 31, Red Oak, driving a 2008 Ford F150 pick-up, was backing from his driveway and failed to see a 2008 Chevrolet Cobalt, owned by Rodney Straw, which was illegally parked across the street. Foote struck Straw’s vehicle, causing an estimated $1,000 damage to Straw’s vehicle and about $500 damage to his own. No citations were issued.
  • On Aug. 14, at 12:47 p.m., Red Oak Police officers investigated an accident in the Acorn Acres parking lot. James Coffman, 88, Red Oak, driving a 2006 Dodge Dakota, was backing up in the parking lot when he struck a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee owned by Lori Echternach. Damage to Coffman’s vehicle was estimated at $500, and Echternach’s vehicle received about $1,000 damage.
