Additional positive COVID-19 case in the county

Montgomery County Emergency Management coordinator Brian Hamman and Montgomery County Public Health coordinator Samantha Beeson made a joint announcement July 16 about another confirmed case of COVID-19

The additional case brings the total number of positive cases in the county to 17. 10 people have recovered, and there have been two deaths. A total of 911 people have been tested. 

According to the release, the new case was considered part of community spread in another state. They are an adult, 61-80 and currently in isolation at home. 

A 16th case was reported yesterday, an adult age 18-40. The person contracted the virus through local community spread. 

 “There have been many questions on the isolation release criteria. For cases to recover they must meet the following criteria: no fever for 72 hours, symptoms improved and at least 10 days have passed since the onset of symptoms or since tested if there were never symptoms present. Therefore, if symptoms started several days prior to being tested, the number of days between the notification of a positive case and the isolation release date will vary from case to case,” says Sumer Sandholm, Montgomery County Public Health RN.
