AG day in Villisca


Montgomery County Ex-tension, Montgomery County Farm Bureau and Montgomery County Con-servation Board sponsored an Ag Day in Villisca for second and third graders.

Villisca’s Ag Day was held on March 31 at the Enarson Elementary School. Students had five sessions with presenters.

Crop and Soil Investigation (CSI)—Marshall Dolch, Aleck Pafford, and Brandy Sickels assisted the youth with microscopes and specimens

Seed Identification—Leah Robinson, Courtney Pullen, and Alex Acosta helped the students identify seeds and did “Ag in the Classroom” activities on the computers.

John Deere and John Deere Equipment—Bette Larson did a presentation on John Deere and John Deere Equipment and talked about John Deere’s importance to agriculture.

Germination—Bill Drey helped the students germinate corn and soybean seeds and discussed seed germination.

Who Gets the Money?—Deb Karwal talked about who gets the money from agricultural products.

The students had snacks from agricultural grain products.

Other helpers in Villisca were Mrs. Poston, Mrs. Wood, Mrs. Meyers, Mrs. Hefflefinger, and Ms. Manken. It was a very educational day.
