All-State students from Red Oak

For Large Group Speech, once a group performs at State they can be nominated by their judges to go on to All-State. It’s a very selective and subjective process. A group can receive straight ones at State and still not be nominated for All-State.
Each quadrant (we’re in the Southwest quadrant) of the State is allotted a specific number of nominees since there is a limited performance time. If there are more nominations than time allowed, some of the groups are labeled as “non-performers.”
This label simply means they won’t perform at All-State. It does not however mean that they are not All-State participants.
Red Oak’s Ensemble “History of Television, Condensed” with Kelsey Myers and Sarah Hayes were nominated for All-State and will be non-performers on Feb. 19 in Ames at the All-State Festival. I am so incredibly proud of these two - they have worked so hard this season and to be honored like this for their talent is such an amazing thing. Please congratulate them when you see them.
