Audrey M. Carter, 85, of Red Oak, died on May 19, 2009, at her home.
Audrey Mae Carter was born Nov. 28, 1923, in Red Wing, Minn., the daughter of Arthur Milton and Ruth Elizabeth (Johnson) Berlin. Audrey grew up in Minnesota and graduated from Red Wing High School. She later attended St. Olaf College in Minnesota. On May 24, 1947, Audrey was united in marriage to Donald Lee Carter in Red Wing, Minn. This union was blessed with two daughters, Janet and Jill.
She was a very active member of the Red Oak Presbyterian Church and was a proud member of Chapter HB of the PEO. She was also a founding member of the Murphy Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, now known as the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Donald in 1999; and a brother, Arthur Berlin and his wife Charlotte.
Survivors include her children, Janet (Jay) McAninch of Centreville, Virginia, Jill (Roger) Bergstrom of Red Oak; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a nephew; and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held on May 23 at the Red Oak Presbyterian Church with Rev. Caryn Pedersen officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Montgomery County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary for the Serenity Garden or the Red Oak Presbyterian Church.
