Betty J. Henricks, 88
Betty (Breckenmaker) Walton Hendricks, 88, of Red Oak, formerly of Villisca, died on June 18, 2009.
Betty Jane Breckenmaker was born June 12, 1921. She was adopted by Harry Lee and Mabel (Robe) Breckenmaker when she was two months and 18 days old. She was raised in Cumberland, and graduated from Cumberland High School in 1938.
Betty taught school for three years in the Cumberland and Massena area. She then married Don Walton. To this union two sons were born.
Betty went to work as a nurse’s aide at Anaheim Memorial Hospital in Anaheim, Calif. She later married James Hendricks. In 1982 she returned to Villisca where she took care of her mother. In July of 2007 she began volunteer work at the Villisca Good Samaritan Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband James Hendricks, and her son Terry Walton.
She is survived by her son Roger (Karen) Walton of Brainerd, Minn.; two grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Memorial services for Betty (Breckenmaker) Walton Hendricks were held on June 27 at the Wolfe Funeral Home of Villisca with burial of ashes in the Nodaway Cemetery.
