Betty Quam, 83

Betty Mae Quam, 83, passed away Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011, at Risen Son in Council Bluffs.

Betty was born to Imo and L.D. Dark March 30, 1928, in Fairbury, Neb., and spent most of her life in Hastings on a farm.

Betty graduated from Hastings High School and was baptized and joined Hastings Methodist Church in 1941. She later joined Fifth Avenue Methodist Church in Council Bluffs.

In 1981, she moved to Eldon, Mo., and joined Harper Chapel United Methodist Church, where she remained until the death of her husband Merritt Fisher.

Betty later moved back to Council Bluffs and was employed with Foamark Co.

In 1991, she moved to Fergus Falls and joined Trinity Lutheran Church and married Robert J. Quam.

Betty touched many lives and made a lot of true friends through the years.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Merritt Fisher and Robert Quam; and brothers, Eugene Dark and Larry Peterson.
Survivors include her five children, Sandee Diehl, of Treynor, Cheryle Wall and Wendell (Deb) Ossman, both of Henderson, Tony (Tina) Ossman, of Silver City, and Twyla (Greg) Lavery, of Mineola; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Delores Robertson, of Adams, Neb.; brothers, Lester (Evelyn) Dark, of Des Moines, Harold (Faith) Dark, of Pennsylvania, and Merle (Donna) Tilton, of Colorado; nieces; and nephews.

Visitation took place Monday, Jan. 2, at Cutler-O’Neill-Meyer-Woodring Bayliss Park Chapel. Funeral services will take place Tuesday, Jan. 3, at 10 a.m., at Silver City Methodist Church. Interment will be Wednesday, Jan. 4, at 10 a.m., in Barnett, Mo.

Family will direct memorials.
