Blue Jays qualify for state in six events

DES MOINES — The Villsica Blue Jays girls’ track team has qualified for the state meet in six events.

Villisca senior Courtney Auxier qualified for two individual events at the state meet.

Auxier will race in the 100 meter dash. She ran a time of 12.71 seconds at District’s Thursday in Corning, which is fourth best in this field. She finished second in the race behind Corning’s Caitlyn Stroud
Auxier’s other event will be in the long jump, which she won the District title in on Thursday.

Auxier won’t be alone in the long jump as her teammate, Morganne Haer, will join the senior.

Haer took home fourth place at the District’s in the long jump.
Her jump of 15’10.25” at District’s helped get her into the event.

The rest of the events Villisca qualified for were in the relays.
Villisca qualified for the 4x100, 4x200 and sprint medley. All three of which, Villisca won at the Corning Districts.

In the 4x100 and 4x200, the relay teams posted the best entry times in the state.
