Body recovered in farm pond near Tabor

TABOR — The Mills County Sheriff's office recovered a body from a farm pond, Northwest of Tabor Thursday.

Officials found the body around 11 a.m. Thursday after searching for the victim since Monday. The Mills County Sheriff's Office responded to a call Monday, shortly before 11 a.m., of a possible drowning.

The name of the victim is not being released until the family has been notified, according to a press release from the Mills County Sheriff's Office. The press release added weather and surface conditions did make the search more difficult.

A coroner did arrive on the scene and ordered an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Tabor Fire and Rescue, as well as rescue and dive teams from Red Oak and Clarinda assisted in the search.

The drowning remains under investigation by the Mills County Sheriff's Office.
