Carl R. Mueller, 92
Carl R. Mueller, 92, formerly of Red Oak, died Nov. 22, 2009, at the Franciscan Health Center in Duluth, Minn.
Carl Richard Mueller was born April 1, 1917, to Jacob and Mary (Atkinson) Mueller in Grant. He graduated from Iowa State College in Ames in June 1940. He worked for Dun and Bradstreet in Chicago, Ill. until joining the army in 1941. He was commissioned in Oct. of 1942 and assigned overseas in Feb. of 1944. He served with the 92nd Chemical Combat Battalion and earned Battle stars for Normandy, Northern France and Germany campaigns. In 1945 he was assigned to Channel Base headquarters. He served in the army until Feb. 1946.
He married Marisue Cash of Chicago, Ill. April 10, 1946. They returned to Grant in 1949 where Carl managed the Mueller Insurance Agency. The family moved to Red Oak in 1954 when Carl joined the staff at the Houghton State Bank. He continued with Houghton Bank until 1975.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Kenneth and his wife, Marisue.
He is survived by his daughters, Kay (Mike Townsend) Graglia of Denver and Judy (John) Dahl of Duluth, Minn. and one grandson.
