Christmas Box Project helps local families receive gifts

The Christmas Box Project through Southwest Iowa Families, Inc., has helped many families over the past 11 years to experience a joyful and hopeful Christmas.

Families have received toys and books for their children, clothing, coats, hats, gloves and gift cards for gas, food and other necessities.

This year is no different as many families are experiencing even harder times and are unable to make ends meet. They may not have the extra resources to buy toys or books for their children. There are many more out of work parents who are struggling and they need help.

Southwest Iowa Families, Inc., is looking for benefactors interested in adopting a family this Christmas season.

Volunteers get to choose the size of the family they would like to adopt. There are many truly needy families on the list.

Participants will be provided with the “Wish List” of the family, sizes, gender, what toys they may want, etc.

Those who want to participate do the shopping (new items only) and are asked to wrap the gifts and bring them to Southwest Iowa Families, Inc., located at 215 E. Washington Street, in Clarinda.

The gifts will be delivered the week before Christmas.

Those who would like to participate and do not wish to shop, may consider a monetary donation instead.
