Community at heart of Good Samaritan celebration
Good Samaritan Society - Red Oak celebrated its 50th anniversary Saturday with a series of events throughout the day. Things started with a fun run and walk. An opening ceremony followed at the Wilson Performing Arts Center. Outdoors through 2 p.m., there was a festival with displays, vendors and food. Reconciled! performed a concert Saturday afternoon. That evening, there were tethered hot air balloon lifts at the airport. Above left: part of the event included a balloon launch on the north side of the Good Samaritan campus, celebrating in part the new concrete walkway that connects the campus with the Wilson Performing Arts Center. Above right, during the opening ceremonies, a highlight was 100-year-old Faye Wookey (seated) reading her commentary about the family atmosphere at Good Samarian.
