Corner Conference Boys Basketball Preview

Here's a look at the bracket for the Corner Conference boys' basketball tournament.

Play-In Games

Essex vs. Heartland Christian @ Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs- Saturday at 7:45 p.m.

This will be the second meeting between both teams in the last week. Essex defeated Heartland Christian Jan. 5, 57-25, which was also at IWCC.

The Trojans have won two games, while Heartland Christian has one win. That lone win came against West Nodaway (Mo.) on Dec. 17.

Essex's players to watch during the game will be Levi Allen and Jordan Jones. Both seniors lead the team in scoring, each averaging 11 points per game. Jones is the team's leading rebounder, averaging 8.6 per game.

Seth Owens is the player to watch for Heartland Christian. The freshman leads the team in scoring, averaging 8.7 points per game.

The winner of this game will play Fremont-Mills Tuesday night in Essex.

Sidney vs. South Page @ South Page High School in College Springs- Saturday @ 7:45 p.m.

After starting 1-4, Sidney has won five of their last seven games. The Cowboys already have a win over South Page this season.

Sidney defeated the Rebels 68-32 on Jan. 5. Winner of this game will play Stanton in the quarterfinals Tuesday night at the Clarinda Academy.

Quarterfinals

Here's a preview of the other quarterfinal games.

East Mills vs. Villisca @ Essex High School- Tuesday @ 6:15 p.m.

Villisca looks for another opportunity to knock off the Wolverines. The Blue Jays took East Mills to overtime Tuesday night, but were outscored 8-0.

Clarinda Academy vs. Nishnabotna @ Clarinda Academy- Tuesday @ 7:45 p.m.

Nishnabotna scored a win over Clarinda Academy on Dec. 20. They'll look to get the win again.

The semifinals will take place Jan. 19 in Stanton and the championship and consolation games take place Jan. 21 in Malvern.
