Dale S. Boruff, 73

Dale S. Boruff, 73, died June 17, 2009.

Dale Sylvester Boruff, one of five children of John Harold and Bonnie Lorald (Frain) Boruff, was born July 7, 1935, in Carson. Dale graduated from the Carson High School in 1953. Soon after graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served from 1953 to 1956. He served in Korea and was discharged with the rank of Sergeant.

Dale and Leone married on Aug. 7, 1980, and lived in rural Macedonia. Dale and Leone moved to Council Bluffs in May 2007.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, John W. and Laura (Bolton) Boruff, and A.S. “Ves” and Helen (King) Frain; and brothers, PFC Donald L. “Buck” Boruff and Delmar Dean John Boruff.

Dale is survived by his wife Leone Boruff; children, Loy Leanne (Ted) Thommen of Falls City, Ore., Dennis Dale (Tami) Boruff of Carson, Leah Jo (Mark) Knoke of Carson, Susan (Doug) Sheets of Omaha, Neb., Wanda (Carl) Burhenne of Treynor, Vickie Friedrichsen of Denison, Ron Ransom of Carson, and Mike Ransom of Red Oak; sister Doris (Boruff) Peterson and brother Duane Boruff, both of Omaha; 24 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held June 20 at United Methodist Church in Carson with Rev. Richard Russell and Rev. John Lacey officiating. Interment was in Carson Cemetery.
