Dan R. Rush, 54

Dan R. Rush, 54, of Elliott, died June 20, 2009, at the Creighton Medical Center in Omaha, Neb. after injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

Danny Ray Rush was born Feb. 25, 1955, in Red Oak, the son of George and Phyllis (Brouse) Rush. He was raised in Elliott, and graduated from the Griswold Community High School in 1974. Dan was married to June Larsen in 1974 and to this union was born a daughter, Amanda. He was later married to Leta Dyer on May 1, 2006, in Red Oak. He farmed for many years and owned and operated Rush Trucking. He was a former member of the Elliott Volunteer Fire Department, the Southwest Iowa Mini Pullers Association, Pony Express Riders, and was trail boss for the River City Roundup for many years.

Dan was preceded in death by his brother, John.

Survivors include his wife: Leta Rush; daughter: Amanda Rush (J. Lambert) of Shenandoah; parents: George (Phyllis) Rush of Griswold; brother: Joe (Kathy) Rush of Griswold; step-children: B.J. Dorris of Ark.; Lacey (Caleb Watts) Dorris of Ark.; Autumn (C.J. Richards) Dorris of Griswold; and Devon McClain of Elliott; and one grandson.

Memorial services were held on June 26 at the Griswold United Methodist Church with burial of the cremated remains to be in the Griswold Cemetery.
