District Basketball Preview: Opening round kicks off Monday night

There's a few area teams in action for Monday night, including the Red Oak Tigers, as the district basketball tournament begins.

Red Oak will be in Treynor Monday night as they take on Underwood. It's part of a 2A district doubleheader. Red Oak is scheduled to play at 8 p.m.

The winner of Red Oak-Underwood will face Treynor Thursday night in Treynor.

The early game features AHSTW taking on Clarinda, which starts at 6:30 p.m. The winner plays Shenandoah Thursday night in Treynor.

Also in district 2A, Southwest Valley goes to Truro to take on West Central Valley. That game is scheduled for a 6:30 p.m. start. The winner plays Panorama Thursday night in Truro.

The other 2A-District 14 game features Interstate 35 against Clarke. That game will follow Southwest Valley and West Central Valley. The winner plays Central Decatur Thursday night in Truro.

Essex will be the 1A site as it hosts a doubleheader starting at 6:30 p.m. with Heartland Christian and South Page. The winner gets Fremont-Mills Thursday night in Tabor.

Essex will be in the second game of the doubleheader as it faces Riverside. The winner plays Sidney Thursday night in Farragut.
