Donald F. Buehler, 82

Donald F. Buehler, 82, of Red Oak, died Oct. 20, 2009, at his residence after an extended illness.

Donald F. Buehler was born Oct. 11, 1927, in Elliott, the son of Ed and Lena Buehler. He was raised at Elliott, where he attended school. Don started working for the Produce Store in Elliott at the age of twelve. When he was fifteen, he went to work for the Thomas D. Murphy Company where he was a pressman and later a foreman. He married Betty Moore on July 21, 1947, in Shenandoah, and served his country in the Army during the Korean War years. Don eventually left the Murphy Company to start his own printing business known as Valley Associates located in the former Stennett School. He operated the business until 1989 when he retired. He was a former member of the Red Oak Elks Lodge and the Classy Chassis Car Club.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a sister, Dorothy Doughman.

Survivors include his wife: Betty Buehler of Red Oak, children: Michael “Mick” (Jean) Buehler of Olathe, Kan.; Linda (Dennis) Wookey of Red Oak; Shari Buehler of Red Oak; and Scott (Joy) Buehler of St. Charles, Ill.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother: Duane (Dolores) Buehler of Council Bluffs; sister: Diane Casart of Papillion, Neb.

Graveside Funeral services were held Oct. 23 at the Evergreen Cemetery.

A memorial fund is being established in Don’s name.
