Doris Mildred Towne, 94, Corning, died June 11, 2014, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines.
Doris was born Jan. 9, 1920, in Garfield Township in Montgomery County, the second child of John E. and Harriett (Lake) Shaffer.
She married W. Howard Towne Aug. 9, 1938, in Red Oak.
Survivors include her son. Chester Towne of Cumberland; a daughter, Wanda Hughes of Stuart; and sisters, Blanche Sederburg of Omaha and Ruby Lister of Red Oak.
Funeral services were Saturday, June 14, 2014, at the Nelson-Boylan-LeRette Funeral Chapel in Red Oak. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Adams County Rescue Unit.
