Election taking place Tuesday for Red Oak school board

RED OAK — Two candidates are running for two seats in a seemingly uncontested election Tuesday for the Red Oak School Board.

Lee Fellers and Bill Drey are seeking the four-year terms.

After first being appointed to the board in 2007, Fellers was subsequently elected to the position, and currently serves as Board President.

Fellers has worked on the Interest Based Bargaining Committee and has served on the subcommittee for Facilities and Operations. His educational background includes a bachelor's degree in accounting from Peru State College and an MBA from Baker University.

Currently, Fellers is a plant controller at Johnson Controls in Red Oak.

Drey recently retired as Montgomery County’s Iowa State Extenstion Education Director and is currently chairman of the Red Oak Park and Tree Board. He also spent 21 years as an agriculture educator in the Red Oak school system.

Drey's formal education found his undergraduate degree from Iowa State University and his MS degree in professional agriculture from ISU.

Without a contested race, only one polling place, the Gold Fair Building, will be open. Hours will be from noon - 8 p.m.
