Elliott man arrested after sheriff seizes 145 pot plants

ELLIOTT — During a busy week that included three drug-related arrests and serving a federal warrant on a sex offender, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department raided an Elliott home containing 145 marijuana plants.

Russell Alan Shearer, 48, was arrested Thursday at his home in the 200 block of 1st Street after sheriff deputies allegedly found 145 plants, growing lights, potting soil, pots and numerous items related to a growing operation.

According to the sheriff’s department, Shearer was charged with felony manufacture of marijuana, and was released after posting a $5,000 bond.

The arrest was the result of an ongoing investigation, and additional charges may be pending.

Thursday, deputies arrested Wendy Randall, 29, of Red Oak, after executing a search warrant at her residence in the 500 block of W. Coolbaugh.

According to the sheriff’s department, Deputies seized methamphetamine, a large sum of cash, and numerous items related to the distribution of meth.

Randall was charged with two counts of delivery of methamphetamine, and possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver. She remains in custody in the Montgomery County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

Also Thursday, deputies assisted representatives from the United States Marshall Service in the arrest of Michael P. Shaffer, 36, of Red Oak.

Shaffer was arrested on a Douglas County, Neb., warrant for a sex offender violation. He had been living in the 400 block of East Prospect at the time of his arrest and was extradited to Nebraska over the weekend.
