Elmer Jenkins, 86
Elmer J. Jenkins, 86, of Webster City, passed away Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge.
Elmer J. Jenkins was born to Luther and Ollie Custer Jenkins Nov. 11, 1925, in Eucha, Okla. He received his education in Oklahoma and served with the U.S. Navy during World War II in the South Pacific.
Elmer married Millie Arlene Hutchings May 25, 1946, in Bristow, Okla. The family resided in Red Oak for 40 years, where he owned and operated a standard service station and was employed by Parker Hannifan (Uniroyal) for 17 years until his retirement.
Elmer and his family moved to Webster City in 1989, then moved back to Red Oak and returned to Webster City in 2001.
He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the Twins and Cubs. Most of all he loved his family.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Majel and Twyla Jenkins; and several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Millie; daughter, Dee (Stu) Berns, of Webster City; grandchildren, Sarah and Aimee Gauthier, and Shantel (Brian) Bowman; great-grandchildren, Nicolas and Lila Bowman, and Eden Gauthier; several brothers and sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services took place Saturday, Nov. 19, at the Foster Chapel with Rev. Mike Kroona officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Red Oak. Visitation was at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center on Saturday. Graveside committal services took place Monday, Nov. 21, at the Evergreen Cemetery.
